Classy, sleek, and innovative—three words that describe the new 2017 Lincoln Continental series. For almost 80-years, the Continental has brought class and sophistication to the road. The 2017 model infuses that same sentiment with a modern look and advanced technology system.

What’s Under the Hood?

The Lincoln Continental’s engine has evolved over the years and 2017 will mark its best engine yet. It includes a 3.0L GT01 Turbocharge V6 engine with standard dynamic torque vectoring, all-wheel 400 horsepower and a 400lb-ft torque. The torque transfers power on demand and assists with the continuous controlled damping. Thanks to the dynamic torque and turbocharge, the continental can perform at top levels with a 17/26 mpg ration.

Performance

The 2017 Lincoln Continental strives to keep its reputation as a top-performing vehicle. Here’s a look at some of the key performance components for the new model.

Stop-and-Go Technology

Stop-and-go technology is a phenomenal safety feature and is also beneficial to the car’s performance. When a driver comes to a complete stop, the stop-and-go technology turns the engine off, which prevents idling and burning excess gas. The advance anti-lock braking system coincides with the pre-collision assist which detects pedestrians during active braking.

Adaptive Cruise Control

The adaptive cruise control feature allows drivers to take their foot of the brake while the car is moving at a consistent speed. Its adjustable detection will adapt speed rates based on the flow of traffic and amount of braking. In addition, it works hand-in-hand with the stop-and-go technology and pre-collision assist, and pedestrian detection.

Auto Hold

Whether a driver comes across a stop sign or crosswalks, auto hold allows driver to be in control. When the car is at a standstill, the auto hold feature will only release the brakes when the driver presses on the accelerator. This feature coincides with the pre-collision system and pedestrian detection, preventing incidents such as rolling.

Electric Powered Assisted Steering (EPAS)

The 2017 Lincoln Continental takes power steering to a whole new level.  The electronic power assisted steering (EPAS) allows drivers to have a firm, controlled feel during higher speeds. The system adapts to the conditions of the road and will adjust to surface issues such as potholes or construction.

Active Noise Control

Nobody likes a noisy car ride. The active noise control (ANC) feature improves cabin sound quality by monitoring the sound inside of the cabin with internal microphones. It then inverts the sound signal to create an opposing wave through the speakers to cancel out the other sound. This process makes riding in the car pleasurable, especially during peak traffic hours.

Sleek Design

The Lincoln Continental has evolved over the years but has always maintained is classy, elegant, look. In 2017, those same ingredients are integrated with a contemporary flair that offers a chic and crisp design. Get an in-depth review of the look the new Continental will sport in 2017.

Signature Look

If it doesn’t have the honeycomb grille or wood panel trim—it isn’t a Lincoln. The new Lincoln Continental keeps in tune with the 80-year-old tradition that separates this classic beauty from other cars in its class. The interior wood accents contains genuine woods available in a variety of colors, including open-pore espresso ash swirl, Jade Ash Swirl, and brown swirl walnut.

E-latch

Who ever said a door handle couldn’t be sophisticated? The E-latch door handle contains a small button that unlatches the door in a single motion with a simple touch of a button. The contours of the handle keeps the recognizable lines of the Continental lines moving in one direction. Entering and exiting a vehicle has never been smoother thanks to the Elatch’s power cinch feature that gathers and secures the car door.

Illuminating Welcome Lighting and Design Mats

A warm welcome from a vehicle is always nice, especially at night. As drivers approach the car with the key fob nearby, the headlamps, taillights, and door handle lights turn on. The soft lighting allows drivers to see as they enter and exit the vehicle. In addition, the welcome mats illuminate the ground on both sides of the vehicle, giving drivers and passengers extra lighting. This system is an extra added safety feature, perfect for people who travel alone at night or park in isolated areas.

Automatic Folding Mirrors

Side mirrors can get swiped at any moment and with the advancement of technology, can be expensive to replace. The 2017 Lincoln Continental comes equipped with automatic folding mirrors, preventing those split second side swipes. This feature operates when the car is in park, once the engine is started, they return to their natural state.
